I am excited to unveil the third episode of "Cooking Back to Our Roots," a captivating voyage of exploration and empowerment.
The third episode of Cooking Back to Our Roots was a truly captivating and empowering journey. I had the honor of interviewing the guest speakers, Hilary Richters and Sergio Panday, for this episode. Hilary and Sergio shared their insightful perspectives, adding depth and richness to the conversation.
The main theme of this episode was the captivating country of Surinam, where we delved into the concept of Sankofa—an African philosophy that encourages us to learn from our past in order to shape a more successful future.
The Sankofa powerful philosophy served as the foundation for our discussion, fostering a truly engaging and thought-provoking exchange of ideas.
We explored the cultural significance of a favorite Surinamese meal, uncovering the unique flavors and traditions that make it so special. From the vibrant spices to the traditional cooking techniques, our exploration of Surinam was a true feast for the senses.
The production of this episode was made possible due to the collective effort of several organizations and individuals. My heartfelt thanks go to the City of Amsterdam, Amplify DEI, and The Project Wizard for their unwavering support.
Special mentions also go to MUA Glamdelien for the stunning makeup, Odessa DC and Benedicta Badu for capturing the essence of our journey through the amazing photography, and Raquel Hodge (Interior Design) Momentrepreneurs_nl, Bobo Couture, Black Ladies Talk, udu media and Het Koorenhuis for their invaluable contributions.

Black gold is an expression that can be used for a variety of things. This work expresses a portrait that is valuable. She is very shy, modest, and rather sad.
Black gold is her life. She cannot live without it. She expresses herself with black gold. She is a woman of black gold. She loves black gold. It wakes her up, but is often not really happy.
Black gold has her warmth and light. It is her source of energy. It makes her rich and powerful. It also makes her beautiful and elegant. It makes her creative and, fortunately, free! Her name is SRANAN
